Social Media Training

Introduction to Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing can be a minefield – you know you are supposed to be doing it, but where do you start? I offer introductory social media training for small business owners who want to find out what the fuss is all about and how it relates to business.

At the end of the session you will have answers to these questions:

  • There are many social media platforms to choose from, so how do I know what’s right for my business?
  • What about my traditional marketing – do I now ditch it all in favour of social media?
  • How do I manage social media when I’m already so busy I can barely manage my emails?
  • What on earth do I say  - no-one wants to know what I’m eating for lunch?
  • How do I start to develop a strategy for social media?

Social media is currently a buzzword – it can help you reach an audience far greater than with traditional networking methods, but can also be an incredible drain on your time if you don’t have a strategy in place.

Most people know they “should” be engaging with social media, but don’t have a clue where to start.  ”What do I say?” and “How will I find the time?” are common questions from new clients.

In this workshop we will look at the “Big 3″ social media platforms: LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook, discuss the merits of each and how they can be used effectively for business.  We will look at what to say and how to engage with your audience, and tips for how to manage your social media strategy in 30 minutes a day.

It’s not dissimilar from networking and personal recommendation – it’s all about conversation and connection. The difference is that the web gives you access to literally millions of potential clients from your own laptop.

The workshop is an interactive session with the opportunity to work in small groups to share ideas to:

  • Look at which platforms could work best and how to engage with the right audience (content and interaction are key)
  • End the session with a plan for your own social media strategy
Learning objectives for the session:

  • Understanding how social media works in a business context – it’s not enough just to have a website
  • The importance of being authentic online – why people do business with people
  • Develop a social media strategy for your business – in 30 minutes a day
How much time do you need to invest? Sessions are 2-3 hours, and are run for small groups.
