Virtually Does It – WordPress Website – Design & Build
Katie MacDonald of Virtually Does It approached me to design and build her website in WordPress. She had previously built a site in another content management system (CMS) which she had “outgrown”. She was looking for the following solutions:
- Full control of her hosting and email management
- CMS website that she could easily update herself after launch
- A website that would seamlessly link to her social media platforms
- Design that was “clean” and site that was easily navigable
- Built in blog
She already knew she wanted to build her site in WordPress (and had in fact uploaded WordPress with her hosting company but soon got stuck). Although once completed it is simple to edit a site using this platform, it can be tricky to design and build in the first place (and take a LOT of time to learn how to do).
Result – using the Thesis Theme with WordPress the finished website meets all Katie’s requirements and can expand along with her business should she choose.
A Different Kind of Work – MailChimp Newsletter – Strategy & Set Up
Christine Livingston of A Different Kind of Work was looking to reach an audience that wasn’t connecting with her blog or on social media. She specifically had a wide network of contacts who, although on email, she was not connecting with regularly online. She was looking for the following solutions:
- Reaching her network of contacts who had worked with her in the past but were not aware of her new online offering
- Building a list of followers who were not engaged with social media
- Offering a way for people to become more engaged as members of her community
- A summary of the most popular blog posts between issues
- Creating a platform for priority notification of product launches, offers and additions to service to members (in advance of posting on the blog)
- Advance tips and hints exclusive to members
- An email marketing and email list management system that was professional and met all anti-spam regulations
- Links to social media platforms direct from the newsletter
- Newsletter that fitted in with her website brand
Result – using the free newsletter platform offered by MailChimp the finished newsletter meets all Christine’s requirements and she is able to update it easily herself.
